'Sign a centre-back first' - Man United fans react to reports Nicolas Gaitan is close to a move to Old Trafford

Nicolas Gaitan's name is never too far away from the conversation at Manchester United every single transfer window.
The Benfica winger, who joined the Portuguese outfit from Boca Juniors in 2010, has, once again, been tipped to move to Old Trafford this summer.
However, are fans of the Red Devils pleased as punch about their proposed new addition? Or are they tearing their hair out at the prospect of the 27-year-old joining their ranks?Manchester United have entered talks with SL Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan according to reports on Portuguese television CM TV.

Reports say Gaitan played his final game for Benfica this season and that his representatives are in England to negotiate a deal for the Argentinian midfielder.

Gaitan is a player who has long been linked with a move to Man United. Like Wesley Sneijder in every transfer window over the last few years, Gaitan’s name has cropped up with United.
At one stage in 2012, The Telegraph went as far as to say a deal for Gaitan to join United had already been agreed. Of course, he didn’t end up moving to Old Trafford, so fans will be understandably cautious when it comes to more reports linking him with a transfer.
On paper, Gaitan, who has a €35m release clause, is not the sort of midfielder who United are in any desperate need for.
Louis van Gaal has made it clear he wants to sign a defensive midfielder but Gaitan is more of an attack minded player, rather than somebody who has the ability to step into the Michael Carrick role.
It’s set to be a busy summer for United and you know the transfer season is definitely underway when Gaitan is linked. Next up, Sneijder?
